Welcome

My name is Vidya and I am a wildlife and nature photographer based in Eastern Ontario. I love all animals, but especially birds. I was born and raised in Toronto, and have been a keen birder since I was young. Growing up in the city, I learned that animals can be found in the most unlikely of places. Through my work, I try to tell the stories about the creatures I'm lucky enough to see and their relation to our shared environment. I hope to raise awareness that wildlife conservation is something that can be applied in our own neighbourhoods and not just in national parks or remote places. All my photos are captured ethically, with no use of bait or callback. I'm an engineer by day, but photography is my creative outlet and I'm out shooting as often as I can. I am constantly learning and trying new techniques to continue to grow and evolve as an artist.

A lone Canada goose, paddling on the lake at sunrise with the Toronto skyline in the background.
A black and white bird with a red beak, specifically a common tern, flying by with suburban houses in the background/
A small iridescent blue and black bird flies in front of an out of focus background of skyscrapers and blue sky.
A duck with a pointy beak floats in the water with a silhouette of industrial buildings in the background during a very pink sunrise.
Two adult and five baby swans float on a pond in front of a city skyline with skyscrapers.
